User Centric Design means putting the user first and foremost throughout the design process. As a UX designer or product manager it’s invaluable to put yourself in the shoes of your customer, but it’s much better to actually get your customers involved through the product development process. Ideally, if budget and time allows this involves listening to user requirements at the beginning of the process, either via focus groups, customer visits, video chat sessions or even just email. However, the more the user is involved throughout the whole design process, the more likely you will create an application that really meets their needs. Many product owners believe that you can simply release a Minimum Viable Product to market and then iteratively develop additional features as you go. This is true, but it can also be very expensive to take a product through a whole design, development and testing phase only to realise that you’ve missed the mark. Getting your customers involved early in the process, from initial sketchy requirements, through to wireframes of your proposed design, and indeed even interactive prototypes ensures that your design and product management teams really understand customer challenges while you’re planning your product, saving you a lot of money on costly development, testing and customer support.
Jiggle Media has over 10 years experience in User Research, including formal lab testing sessions, focus groups, ethnographic testing and biometric testing. Imagine the power of being able to bring customers into a lab environment, and watch through a two-way mirror as our expert usability facilitator interviews your customer and guides them through an interactive prototype of your app or software product! Sometimes it’s not what the customer says during an user testing interview that’s important but how their body reacts to your product. This product could be the imagery used in a marketing campaign, a new TV advert or a new mobile or console game. Wouldn’t it be great if you could see if that button or logo catches their eye? Wouldn’t it be even better to know whether your product is having an emotional or visceral impact or on your customer? Jiggle Media uses state of the art techniques to gauge just that; we use non-intrusive EEG headsets to assess the brainwave patterns of your customers, Galvanic Skin Response bracelets to measure the electrical conductivity of their skin (hence measuring tiny amounts of perspiration and helping to understand their emotional state) and even eye-tracking technologies to see how their eye moves around the screen. Whether you’re trying to design an addictive gaming experience, or employ subtle persuasion architecture techniques into your up-sell techniques – we can help.
We transform the art of Product Design to a science by validating user requirements, and testing solutions before they are brought to market. Through our partners we can offer state of the art user testing facilities in Dublin, London and several locations across the U.S., including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York, Phoenix, San Francisco and Seattle. We have many years experience in user testing and focus groups and are happy to facilitate any sessions that you may require. We can offer workshop facilitation, focus groups, prototype testing, live product user testing and biometric testing. We can even assist in recruiting your customers (or target customer demographics) to participate in the studies. You are welcome to bring members from your design, product management and development teams along to see first-hand what your customers have to say. We will provide a comprehensive report on findings and even include recommendations regarding design changes. We’ll even provide video files of the user testing sessions for you to present to your team.
